Our Story

In 2017, when Hugo was working as a trader in London, he started to get sick and couldn’t find the cause of what was wrong.

After seeing different specialists, he was eventually diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).

IBS is a common disorder that affect around 10% of the global population (1).

In the following six months, with the help of his nutritionist, Hugo changed his diet and lifestyle into a more nutrient dense diet by removing highly processed foods.

Hugo then developed a passion towards health and to have more control in the way he eats and improve his nutrient intake, Hugo wanted to create an app that can help do this.

He came up with the idea of Petite Carrot and with the help of Bo, Hugo launched Petite Carrot in January 2022.

You can find more information about Bo and Hugo in our about page (2).

App description

Petite Carrot is a food diary app to track your calories and nutrients. You can create recipes and track your dietary supplements.

You get nutritional recommendations for every essential nutrient based on your profile and you can modify these default recommendations to create your own targets.

Using Artificial Intelligence, Petite Carrot can help you reach your daily nutritional targets.

You can visualise your daily nutritional score and your intake in each nutrient over time.

Each essential nutrient contains a description explaining why they are essential for our body and what happens in case of deficiency or excess.

This App is a Progressive Web App which is a new type of website that behave like a normal app after it has been added to the device home screen. You can access it with any device (computer, phone, tablet) and it doesn’t take up space on your phone.

What makes it special

Our App has the most complete and accurate nutritional data currently in the app market.

Each food contains information on about 90 nutrients including calories, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, amino-acids, omega-3 and 6, cholesterol, caffeine, FODMAPs, glycemic load, and other less know micro-nutrients.

We achieve a high accuracy by using Artificial Intelligence as explained in our FAQ (3).

The main focus is on minimally processed foods, as the goal is to help people transition to healthier food choices while focusing on nutrients.

It’s a modern approach that moves away from the traditional way of dieting that consisted of reducing calories of an already nutrient-poor diet (4).

Finally, we have a strict data privacy policy and don’t share data with any third parties (5).
